Charleston Lightroom Presets from MPeacockMedia
If you have ever scrolled through @mpeacockmedia and wondered why every photo looks so warm, golden, and unmistakably Lowcountry — the secret is out. There are now three preset collections available, built from years of shooting Charleston in every kind of light, and all three are in the store.
A quick note on why I finally packaged these up. People ask about the editing constantly, and the honest answer was never one slider. It was a set of decisions I had made so many times they became automatic. Presets are just those decisions, saved.
Why Charleston Light Needs Its Own Presets
Generic preset packs are built for generic light. Charleston is not generic. We get heavy humidity that flattens contrast and puts haze on anything more than a mile away. We get brutal midday sun bouncing off white stucco and pale sand. We get about twenty minutes of the best golden hour in the Southeast, where the marsh goes copper and the water goes gold.
A preset built for dry mountain light will not handle any of that. It will either wash out the sky or crush the greens in the marsh. Every look in these packs was built and tested on real Lowcountry frames.
The Charleston Preset Pack
This is the original and the one most people want. Sixteen Lightroom presets organized by time of day, so you pick based on when you shot rather than guessing at a style name: Sunrise, Early Morning, Midday Sun Control, Afternoon, Golden Hour — the signature Lowcountry Gold — Sunset Fire, Blue Hour, Night City Lights, and Overcast.
On top of that there are the signature looks: Vivid HDR Drone, Coastal Blue, Tropical Teal, Film Matte, Holy City B&W, Dreamy Glow, plus a clean Client profile and a Real Estate profile for work that needs to stay neutral.
The Midday Sun Control and Overcast presets are the two that surprise people. They are not glamorous, but they rescue the shots you would otherwise delete.
The Aerial Collection
Fourteen presets built specifically for drone and aerial work, which is a genuinely different editing problem. At altitude you are fighting atmospheric haze, and you are usually working with a lot of sky and a lot of water in the same frame.
These run stronger dehaze and clarity than the ground presets, with emphasis on sky and water. Signature looks include Lowcountry From Above, Golden Hour Altitude, and Sunset Flyover. Then there are the condition-specific ones: Haze Buster for distant hazy shots, Coastal Aerial, Marsh and Tide, Blue Hour Aerial, Beach Day Bright, Top-Down Abstract, Storm and Drama, City Skyline, Real Estate Aerial, Aerial B&W, and Tropical Aerial.
If you fly over the Ravenel or out toward the barrier islands, Haze Buster alone is worth the pack.
The Event Collection
Fourteen presets for event and wedding photography, which has its own hard problems: mixed lighting, flash, and skin tones you cannot afford to get wrong.
Signature looks are Golden Hour Vows, Lowcountry Love, and Sunset Send-Off. The rest cover the styles clients actually request: Timeless Film, Aisle of Light for light and airy, Moody Romance for dark and moody, True Love Tones, Forever B&W, First Dance for reception low light, Candlelit, Flash and Frame, Pop the Champagne, Editorial Vows, and Garden Party.
Everything in this pack is built to flatter skin tones and handle tricky reception light, because that is where most event edits fall apart.
How They Work
Each collection is twenty-nine dollars. They work on RAW and JPEG, on Lightroom desktop and the free Lightroom mobile app, and no Creative Cloud subscription is required. Download is instant and includes a one-page install guide.
The license covers personal and commercial use on your own photos, so if you are a photographer or a business shooting your own content, you are clear to use them on client work.
A Starting Point, Not a Filter
One honest expectation to set: a preset is a starting point. It gets you ninety percent of the way in one tap, and then you nudge exposure and white balance for your specific frame. Anyone selling you a one-click fix for every photo is overselling.
What these actually save you is the twenty minutes per image of figuring out where to start. Across a shoot, that is most of an afternoon back.
